At JT Unique, we create a lot of unique and one-off designs for our customers. As part of being ready to create those designs, we’ve accumulated quite the collection of tools in our shop and found what a difference having them can make in projects. While many projects could benefit from having access to the tools, few of them warrant the investment in buying the machines. Fortunately, we can help.

Whether you’re looking to upgrade a project or dabble in something new without all the investment, we’re glad to help with as little or as much as you need. We offer shop services to help with those projects that can benefit from machines you might not have available at home or in your shop. Most projects have a turnaround time of 48 hours and start around $25. You can find a full rundown of our rates here.

Straightline Service

Get a straight edge for that smooth, clean finish on your project.

Why are straight lines so hard? We’re not sure, but fortunately we have the tools to make them significantly easier. Some pieces of wood don’t arrive to us smooth along the edges, meaning they need some work before they can slide easily into places to offer a smooth, straight finish. If you’re a small shop owner who only has machinery for a wave cut or a hobbyist trying to clean up an old barn door, we can help with as much or as little of the project as you like. Prices start at $25.

Edge Milling (Jointing)

IKEA’s not the only company that can make your building process easier.

There are a lot of options and opinions out there when it comes to jointing your pieces. Loose splines or tongue-and-groove? Nails or no nails? Which saw offers the best cut? One thing people do agree on, though. is that the best work comes from using quality tools when you cut. If you’re looking for a few one-off projects or aren’t quite ready to upgrade to a higher saw yourself, we have a saw in shop just waiting for wood. Prices start at $25.

Thickness Planing

This machine helps make sure all your wood is a uniform thickness before you start building with it.

Thickness planning ensures that all your wood is a uniform thickness, which can be a huge deal if you’re trying to match it to small spaces like a sliding door or kitchen cabinet. It can also be a pain in the butt to do— unless you have the right tools. In our line of work, we come across these projects often enough that we’ve got the right tools on hand to help. If you’re looking to polish off some reclaimed wood or otherwise make sure your wood is uniform, come by the shop. Prices start at $25.

Brush/Wire Wheel Sanding $100

This band saw makes it easy to cut out curves.

Textured wood can give a project an old-style, unique kind of feel to it, but sometimes the grain we fall in love with doesn’t have the texture we wish it did. Wheel sanding can help to restore or add in a new texture but, like the other services we offer, can be a pain without the right tools.. Prices start at $100.

Solid Wood Panel Boards

Our large belt sander makes sure your pieces are smooth and ready when you get them.

Lincoln logs are easy to piece together because the pieces are pre-cut to work together. While we can’t make your building project quite as easy as stacking Lincoln logs, we can try to get it as close to that as possible. If you need help getting wood panels to match the size you need and don’t want to deal with the mess, time, or learning curve of having to figure it out yourself, we offer to help with fast turnaround in our shop so that you can stay at a quick pace for your project. Prices start at $35.

Smart Part Powder Coating

Powder Coating can be a great asset to helping preserve your pieces from corrosion. In theory, it’s not that hard to do yourself, but there are certain tricks to be mindful of, like thoroughly cleaning the piece before application. There’s also the matter of needing to bake the pieces afterward. Since the materials in the coating are not FDA approved, it could be hazardous to cook them in the same place you cook your food. We have an oven already dedicated to this, so if you’re looking to save yourself the hassle of getting a new appliance or risking food contamination, we can easily help out. This comes with a $35 set up fee and cost $15 a piece after that.

Raised Panel Cabinet Doors & Wainscotting

Save the garage space and let us take care of the wainscotting.

Adding this design feature can add a look of depth and design to your space but can be a lot of work to do by hand. Fortunately, we’re able to get it done quickly so you don’t have to give up on style. $1.50/united inch..

3-D Project Design

There’s an undeniable ease that comes from being able to design something digitally and make any necessary adjustments before you actually commit to building it. That’s why we also offer help in 3-D design to help make your life easier. $75 an hour

Our CNC machine is a great tool for creating consistent and accurate patterns.
